I haven't done really any art in awhile. I've been distracted by the new Zelda game and working more days than I'd care to. I've also taken the first real steps towards becoming a voice actor. I had the first of three meetings today where my coach listened to all the characters, impressions and accents I can do, took notes and will be writing me scripts based on my strengths. There's also the regular podcast and two games I play in. And some house projects my partner wanted to do. So, not a lot of free time and, when I have it, little motivation to do more than push buttons and kill monsters. That being said, I felt an urge tonight and threw this together from a photo I took recently after I'd buzzed all my hair off. Pony tail? You're a thing of the past and I don't miss it at all. This came out very distorted and I like it that way. I drew it first:
But I wasn't happy with it. Freehand, it needed some work which I thought I could do in Procreate. Once I started warping, I started having fun. I warped the pencil sketch, inked it then warped it again adding details freehand until I got something I liked. I look a bit like an onion but I like the effect. I'm likely alone on that one.
I've also been lazily working on a portrait for a friend's birthday. Two friends, really. It will be a painting of their great dane, Belle. I am not a dog person at all. I've never really felt comfortable around them. But I really like THIS dog. And I haven't painted anything in a long time. I had some credit with Dick Blick so sent for a couple colors I was missing as well as a couple mounted boards. If this works out, I am switching so hard over to these boards as I really like the way they look. So far, this is where I got. Made a pencil sketch then sent it over to Procreate to trace over in pen, then enlarged that and printed it out on paper so I could make a rubbing onto the board. And that's where I am. I hope it will work out. I like it so far.
