And this is the rest of what I did for the day. Too many to work up into Illustrator images. Worked from reference by some of the kings; Tezuka and Kirby. Always learn from the best.
Yup, still drawing these. Did a lot of sketching of these today, mostly just Sharp. I feel if I get him down, I'll easily be able to do the rest. Have a lot of feelings about this, but I'll hold off for now. This is a worm's eye view more or less, something I rarely do. Should do more.

So... maybe Sharp's on his way to the Ren Faire. And... he has a cell phone. And... he took a selfie. Ok, whatever.

So, here are the others. Couldn't NOT draw them. Think I'm going with the earlier version but if I ever get a chance to a cartoon show, I'll use these. Probably...

Had time to do another one of these after the Bio comic. They make me smile, they're relaxing and fun to do. And I think they're the more commercial thing I've ever done, which is both a good and.. well, other thing.

Took a little time out to draw this, and to make sure it wasn't a depressing subject. Thank you, Million Year Picnic.

And here's the back cover for the upcoming Tamino hard copy. No other explanation necessary.

Had a house guest this weekend which means that no art got done. She left today and I had to work, so I did a quickie just to do something. No other comment.

Ok, so I did another one. So sue me. The deal is, this is an experiment in trying to be commercial. That's the experiment, for me, behind Delve Deep. That being said, I don't think I want to go THIS far, unless I want to pitch this as a cartoon. I think the version I had before this has more of a wide appeal, especially, perhaps in Europe. Which is shooting far, dreaming high. What the hell. That all being said, I did this just to prove I could. Now it becomes just yet another version of this character and the style in which I want to tell this story. There's still part of me that wants to do something weird and strange like Tamino, I just don't have another story right now. So, this.

Yah, yah...ok. Overdesign, can't leave well enough alone. It's all true. This is what happens when one drinks and cartoons. Let's just say that this is morning warmup, a what if. In this case, what if Delve Deep were showing on Cartoon Network? I think it would go... something like this.

Then there's this. A friend wants to do a limited edition, hard-copy version of Tamino. To that end, he asked me to do an alternate cover, partially as the layout will be totally different than the digital version. He wants to lay four pages out at a time, which is how the comic was composed. It actually should be the definitive edition as I can't make the four page layout work on an iPad or as a PDF. There will be a back cover as well. I was pretty happy with this. Ink, Illustrator.
This is a rare thing for me, a commission. I don't generally take them as I don't generally like drawing what other people want me to. This means that my few failed attempts to get into the animation industry were probably better being failures. Perhaps. In any case, this person approached me having seen my Citroen/Digby drawing and asked me to do his wolf character next to his Morris Minor (he really owns that car). It was a good challenge and fun to do. Ink, Illustrator.

Morning warm up. Had this image in my head for a few days for no reason I can decipher. I rarely act on these sorts of things as the results are usually utterly unlike what I've been picturing or are somehow disappointing. This time, it worked well enough, at least for a warm up.

One more of these test images before I start the actual comic. I think I have a hold on what I want, finally.

A test image for a planned short comic that will introduce one of the characters of "Delve Deep." Yah, they're cute, and this COULD be considered "Delve Deep Babies," but this is really just a snapshot, a memory from Sharp's past that I thought important. And it's unlikely that this comic will end well. That's the point of this kind of thing.
