Still working on Tamino, more slowly than I'd like. Every so often, during the coloring process, I turn off the level that has lines in it to see how the composition works without them. It helps me balance the colors. Of course, for whatever reason, the colors are sharper in AI than as a jpg. Still, things are coming about. I hope to be done with the comic soon as I want it to be done and to move onto other things.

Vector images are always sharper and clearer because they don't actually show pixels, but merely tell the computer mathematically where color, lines should go, so projects render at the absolute best quality on the computer and when they are printed. They are not as "free" as pixels when drawing and I am always amazed at how ;drawn and painted" your images look.

Photoshop CS5 is rumored to have some new features that let you mix colours like real paint on the screen, I can imagine what fantastic stuff you'd do with that!

Well, here's the thing, Vince: as far as the linework goes, I draw and ink that stuff by hand then scan it, import it into Illustrator and vectorize it. This makes it a hell of a lot easier to manipulate as well as scale to whatever size and DPI I need. The coloring is done in Illustrator as well. So, in effect, I cheat. :"D

If PS5 allows you to mix colors, I might well be interested in an update. I don't paint with PS much but I keep wanting to do more. Mostly I don't have time!

it shows what i was talking about.

i'd love to get one of those drawing tablets with the screen built in so you can draw as on real paper... I bet these new features would really.. they are a more than a little pricey though!

Gah, that's some pretty amazing stuff in CS5! I think it's the first time I've seen Adobe embrace the idea that people use their software for painting as much if not more than for photo-manipulation. And yes, a Cintiq would be nice but they're pricey indeed!

when I win the lottery, I'll get us both one and the CS5 update.
