A quick work demo using an old sketch. Tried to take a different approach, not using inked lines at all. Was pretty pleased with the results, so took it home.
Thanks for the kind words. Really, it's just trying things out. With all my brushes, there are so many different ways to work on a design, going a little nuts can lead into interesting directions. The more I play with Procreate, the more I like it. Sometimes, now, I draw just for the love of drawing.
I need to play more, I am even thinking of taking a basic drawing class if I can just to "start from scratch" and see if I can improve that way. I will be in Barcelona soon and I really should try and sketch on the iPad while I am there and not just take photos. I always draw for myself these days, but I put a lot of pressure on myself once I start one and make into a job a times.
I always take something to draw with on vacations and I never draw. Ever. I seem to need to do it at home. But that's me. Play around. You don't waste a single supply by using the iPad. And a drawing class might be good. I'd say you can meet people but I know that's not really your thing. Have fun in Barcelona!
I used the draw on the esplanade and whenever I went away, then I just brought pencils and paper with me and never touched them. If I met people that were creative and could talk about it, it wouldn't be so bad but I have a feeling it will bored housewives. Toby my ex would draw on the subway on his way to work most days, just sketch people sitting and waiting for the next stop.
For what it's worth, I tried an experiment. One of the recent abstract paintings I did in Procreate, I made specifically to be printed at 16x20, just to see how well things would print, if they'd be pixilated, look organic, etc. I can say, having now received the print, that it looks great. I used one of my most textured brushes and it looks really organic. Took it to work to show some of my artistic co-workers and they were all excited by it. This means one could do portraits or make prints or whatever all on the iPad as long as the file size was properly set before drawing. I think next up, I'm going to try a more serious self portrait and have it printed as well.
I haven't printed anything made on the iPad in Procreate... yet. I did print an 18x24 inch print for my niece done on the iMac in Sketchbook pro recently and it looks amazing. I have been doing giclee prints with a small printer for drawings and photos and the colour etc look so incredible. I also printed a dog portrait for Robin's nephew that was done on the iPad and that looks good too. I was thinking the other day that you might someday drop the computer all together for just an iPad pro some day. I am glad you tried this out... gives me more confidence to try it later! I found printing on photo paper was fine for photos but the giclee prints on watercolour paper added a little extra "something" .

Great as always. I am always jealous with your stuff. It does pick me up the I'm stressed with my own stuff though.
