Bought this pack of style-stuff for use with AD on the advice of my pal, Vince. Never tried this stuff before. While it's fun to play with and does add a certain modernity to my stuff, part of me wonders if it's just surface-level flash. Does it actually ADD anything to the portrait in question? Is it valid? It certainly makes the image more eye-grabbing, I think. Something to think about.

I am not sure it adds to that particular portrait, it does really stand out and I think if you drew something with these effects i mind, of used them for text on a comic for example they could really work out well. I can see using them in design work fro sure, but Ill need more of that to justify buying the textures for now. My current clients would NOT like this effect. I actually did a postcard for one a few years ago... one of those "go wild! be creative!" assignment that ended, as always, with something that looked exactly like everything else they had done in the past. I think I had to hand make this effect in illustrator back then. I liked it anyway.
