Today's little thing. I started with a VERY old photo of me and my best friend, taken in England in 1985. I've been trying a lot, during this time of imposed isolation to do as much with art as possible. Part of that is to really dig into who the hell I am as an artist and how -I- make art when not trying on someone else's shoes. So I threw this sketch together in my pad in about 15 minutes, poking at it while on a video call over the next couple hours. When done, I was going to try and paint it in a more detailed way but then just decided to attack it with Procreate and my favorite ink brush. After that, it seemed natural to do the different colors and shadows with layers in Procreate and bring the whole thing over to Designer, which is what I did. It's not a great likeness but I like the drawing. So, do I continue in this way and try to refine this process, making this MY way?

Look at that hair!
There is something bumping around in your head with this latest stuff... you are definitely working something out artistically. It might take awhile to settle it down into something you will be happy to call your own but getting there is ½ the fun, non? The look is rougher than your older stuff, dare I say grittier?

I know, I wish I still had that hair. Thanks, Vince! I think I'm still leaning a -little- towards caricature for most people's comfort but I like the way it works. Might be I need to get some more texture or something in there. The drawing took like 15 minutes; it just came out. That's usually a good sign. Will probably try more with this.

You need .. a wig! LOL
My hair was getting too long and while it's further back, I still grow a straight out like ziggy stardust after while,
You have used overlay before, maybe try some textured overlays, photographers seem obsessed with them these days. They mostly use them in Affinity photo though which has some advanced colour mixing tools I don't think designer has.
